I have four kitties and am always looking for healthy, high quality, budget friendly foods to feed them. I feel like my kitties are in a food rut and need something new. What brands do you use? Do you feed mostly kibble or canned food? Do you cook their food/treats? Do you supplement their diet with any vegan foods? (not looking to debate the ethics of feeding cats vegan/meat, just want to know what other people do and what their experiences are) (this thread was inspired by allychristine's thread on what to feed your puppy companions ~^_^~ Mon, Nov. 16th, 2009, 08:02 pm

Quote According to a new study of college students, men will admit to rape as long as you don't call it that — and the same few men are offending multiple times without getting caught. According to Thomas MacAulay Millar of Yes Means Yes!, via the Washington City Paper's Sexist blog, researchers David Lesak and Paul M. Miller asked 1882 college students the following questions: 1) Have you ever attempted unsuccessfully to have intercourse with an adult by force or threat of force? 2) Have you ever had sexual intercourse with someone who did not want you to because they were too intoxicated to resist? 3) Have you ever had intercourse with someone by force or threat of force? 4) Have you ever had oral intercourse with someone by force or threat of force? As the Sexist's Amanda Hess points out, you'd think no guy would admit to any of these acts. But 120 respondents, or 6% of the sample (which, by the way, was ethnically diverse, and included older students, up to the age of 71), answered yes to at least one of the questions. 76 of those men had committed more than one rape or attempted rape — these recidivists averaged 5.8 offenses. That is, writes Millar, "just 4% of the men surveyed committed over 400 attempted or completed rapes." The... Mon, Nov. 16th, 2009, 06:56 pm

This is a semi-rant because I have already complained to my (vegan) boyfriend about it and I think he is tired of hearing about it! So feel free to ignore, but it feels good to get it out, ha. So my two closest female friends - friend one has been vegetarian for many years and friend two has been a limited meat/dairy eater for awhile (just fish, I think). Anyway, for different reasons they both have started eating meat - friend one says she "just felt like she wanted to" and friend two has a new boyfriend and every time we are out together they are ordering huge, crazy amounts of meat. I try not to judge how others eat and I would never confront anyone about their eating habits, as I don't think that kind of behavior wins anyone over to vegan/vegetarianism. And I am certainly not perfect myself (in the past I have had my occasional drunken episodes of eating anything in front of me!). But I try really hard to be very conscious of my eating decisions. And it just bugs me so much that intelligent, well-read, and informed people can just decide to ignore everything they know to be true about meat eating and the meat industry just because they feel like it at the moment. And then I am the one that is crazy and over-sensitive for not wanting to sit at the t... Mon, Nov. 16th, 2009, 04:58 pm

I need help!! I was involved in roller derby since 2007 but recently had to take a break due to my new job and time restrictions. Roller derby was the BEST exercise EVER! I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2006 and roller derby helped ease my symptoms while giving me an amazing outlet to relieve every day stress. Not to mention is was super fun I quit roller derby in August and since then my Fibromyalgia symptoms - mainly aching muscles and fatigue - have come back full force. My problem is that I can't seem to find exercise that excites me the way roller derby did. My time is limited so I was thinking of exercise dvd's. Does anyone have any suggestions on dvd's that would be fun and exciting? I get bored quite easily. ![]() Thanks! ![]() Mon, Nov. 16th, 2009, 10:04 am
